Tumblr.com is known for their customization and ease of sign-up. My first impression of the site was not a good one to say the least. I felt slammed right off the bat with their interface, and how there were numerous postings of other blogs, on the main page of my dashboard (the place to edit your blog):
To further my frustrations, in regard to the intrusive nature of these postings, there was a somewhat familiar concept hitting me in the face, "reblog". I could not help but see the similarity this little button had to, "retweet" (I despise twitter for the record). At this point tumblr's clutter was getting the best of me, and I was determined to find some meaningful features and resounding qualities.
Alas, my salvation came in the form of their customization tools. I think one of Blogger's biggest flaws is the fact that in order to make a unique look and feel, you have to have prior experience with XML and CSS. Yes, there are many good templates out there, but I haven't seen anything so easily customizable in regard to CSS, by just clicking a button. Literally, one click can change your entire theme. Another aspect of Tumblr, is their use of animation, more specifically in how my theme influenced how music clips look on my blog:
Cool Animation
Overall, I still am going to stick with Blogger, primarily because I want to expand upon my own CSS and XML skills, and take them to new heights. My first official poker related entry will be this weekend, and will tweak a few aesthetics as well.
